Yellowstone National Park was established by the U.S. Congress and signed into law on March 1, 1872. Most of Yellowstone is located in the state of Wyoming with parts extending into Montana and Idaho. Yellowstone was the first national park in the world, and is known for its spectacular wildlife and its many geothermal features. Old Faithful Geyser is one of the most popular features of the park although it is not the largest or most regular geyser. The Old Faithful Geyser popularity is likely do to the fact that it erupts more frequently than any of the other big geysers.
Yellowstone National Park spans an area of 3,468 square miles and the natural beauty of the area is showcased via the mountain ranges, canyons, rivers and lakes. Yellowstone Lake is one of the largest high-altitude lakes in North America and is centered over the Yellowstone Caldera.
